About Us
Wellington Fibres is a small business owned by myself, Donna Hancock and my husband, Lorne Thomson. We have a farm with 30 breeding Angora goats, which produce mohair. The goats are sheared twice a year and the mohair is processed on site at our own mill. Along with our own product we offer custom processing of natural protein fibres. Our specialty yarns are brushed and boucle. To accomodate smaller producers our minimum requirement is only one fleece. Our goal is to customize our processing to your needs.
Wellington Fibres also has a store onsite offering a wide range of fibre related products such as drop spindles, felting supplies, Ashford spinning wheels, Hyatt Wheels (locally made) and wooden knitting needles. Our mohair is available for purchase unwashed, washed, and dyed. Rovings are available in a variety of colours and specialty blends. Yarns are available, tweed & rainbow dyed, using three complementary colours which results in very unique colouring of the yarn. These are not shown on the colour chart because each dyelot is unique. We also sell sweater, mitt, sock, and mohair topper kits. You can order by phone or by e-mail. Call for an appointment to drop in and see our studio, mill, and the goats. Check the web page for dates of an Open House in the Spring when the baby goats are born. See you soon!
