• Dyeing with Weak Acid Dyes
  
  • Have you been trying different dyeing techniques such as Kool Aid and
    cake dyes and want to move on into weak acid dyes? Weak acid dyes offer
    colourfast and dependable results. In this workshop we will make stock
    solutions and try some vat dyeing and some handpainting and some other
    interesting approaches to dyeing. Each participant will leave with several
    samples of different dyeing techniques. You may want to bring some fibre
    that you would like to try and an apron or wear some old clothes. Don’t
    forget to bring a lunch.
  • Cost: $65 ( includes 3 primary dyes and sample skeins)

• Spinning Hand painted Rovings
  
  • Have you purchased some of those colourful hand painted rovings and
    then wondered how to approach spinning them? Come and spend an
    afternoon trying different approaches to spinning hand painted rovings. We
    will investigate different spinning and plying techniques on these colourful
    palettes of fibre. Bring a wheel ,bobins, hand carders, niddy noddy, and a
    ball winder.

• Exploring weave Structres
  
  • You have the basic weaving under your belt and now you are wanting to
    start going onto the next step. In this 2 day course we will start exploring
    different weave structures. It will be set up as a round robin so you will go
    home with a number of different samples that will allow you to start
    planning your next project on the loom.
  • Cost: $120.00
  • When: May 15 & 16, 2010 - 9:30 am to 4:30 pm

• Wet Felting Class
  
  • Join us at Wellington Fibres for a day of felting fun. This one day workshop
    will go over many different techniques for wet felting, embellishment and
    resist dying techniques. It is a hands on workshop and each participant will
    leave with different samples of the techniques we will explore. Bring a
    lunch and an old towel.
  • Cost: $75 includes materials
  • When: June 19, 2010 - 9:30 am to 3:30 pm

• Spinning Crazy Batts
  
  • This is sure to be a fun day of serendipitous spinning! Art yarns galore! We
    will be making a batt to spin out of everything under the sun. A combination
    of all sorts of fibres and “things” will be created and then we will tackle
    spinning it and then plying these crazy singles. We will look at some
    different ways we can use the yarns we create. Must have some spinning
    experience and bring your wheel and leave your inhibitions at home. Bring
    a lunch and we will have some fun.
  • Cost: $55.00 (includes fibre and goodies to put into your batt but, feel free
    to bring some fun stuff to add to your pile.)
  • When: August 14, 2010 - 9:30 am to 3:00 pm

• Spinning Introduction
  
  • This is a course for beginners. We will start with learning how to skirt
    a fleece and wash it. We will learn different approaches to preparing the
    fibre for spinning and we will learn how to spin and ply a yarn using both
    woolen and worsted spinning. We will touch on different plying techniques
    and the last class we will try a little dyeing. If you don’t have a wheel you
    can rent one for the duration of the course. If the dates don’t work for you
    but are really interested contact me and we can maybe change them to
    work for you.
  • Cost: $150.00 includes fibre
  • When: May 4, 2010 to June 8, 2010 (6 weeks, every Tuesday Night)
